Since 2000, Steve Rebach has managed a variety of grant programs for Sea Grant, including the Fishery Resource Grant Program and the Marine Mammal Bycatch Reduction in Mid-Atlantic Fisheries funding opportunity.

An expert on blue crabs and other crustaceans, Rebach has published his research in a variety of scholarly journals, including Estuaries and Coasts, Journal of Chemical Ecology, Journal of Experimental Marine Biology and Ecology, Environmental Pollution and Crustaceana.

Before coming to Sea Grant, Rebach was a biology professor and department chair at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES). He also was the coordinator for the UMES Graduate Program in Marine, Estuarine and Environmental Science and was director for the Crustacean Research in Ecology and Mariculture Institute. He earned a doctorate in biological oceanography/marine ecology from the University of Rhode Island, and he holds a bachelor’s in biology from the City College of New York.
