National Working Waterfronts & Waterways Symposium: March 25-28Proposal Deadline: Oct. 19
March 25-28, 2013 — Tacoma, Wash.
In March 2013, Washington Sea Grant, in coordination with Oregon Sea Grant, will sponsor the third national symposium on issues faced by working waterfronts thoughout the United States.
The symposium begins March 25 with a full day of field trips around the Tacoma waterfront and the region. The symposium will feature two days of sessions on topics such as the economic and social impacts of — and on — working waterfronts; successful strategies for addressing waterfront issues; the future of working waterfronts and waterways facing changing uses and a changing climate, and how to keep waterfront industries sustainable and commercially viable.
Proposals will be accepted through Oct. 19, and registration fees are being held at 2007 and 2010 levels in recognition of difficult economic times.
