North Carolina Sea Grant and the Sea Grant programs of New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland and Virginia are seeking regional-scale research pre-proposals that are relevant to home states and the Mid-Atlantic region.

Priority topic areas are:

1. Climate impacts and adaptation.

2. Coupled social-ecological systems science that links social science and natural science research.

3. Land-estuarine or land-sea interactions.

4. Cross-disciplinary, integrative research that analyzes and synthesizes existing data to address major, large-scale issues of relevance to coastal and marine communities.

The RFP also seeks to bring together innovative research teams with high levels of integration, demonstrate synergistic benefits and provide mechanisms for transferring knowledge to end users.

The award period is Feb. 1, 2014 to Jan. 31, 2016. The pre-proposal deadline is 5 p.m., March 15, 2013. Visit evaseagrant.vims.edu/RFP/proposals for more.

Interested investigators are encouraged to contact their state programs as soon as possible to discuss proposal ideas. North Carolina researchers should contact Susan White, Sea Grant executive director, at 919/513-1145 or snwhite3@ncsu.edu to discuss potential outreach partnerships ideas or for help to identify potential research partners in other states in the region.
