Laura Huffman to Speak on Payment for Watershed Services: Feb. 4Feb. 4, 2013 — 4 p.m., 2237 French Family Science Center, 124 Science Drive, Duke University, Durham. See campus map. Laura Huffman, Director of the Texas Chapter of The Nature Conservancy, will speak on how Austin and San Antonio are investing millions in land conservation to protect the quality and quantity of their aquifers and surface water supplies. The event is free and open to the public. Huffman served as an Assistant City Manager for Austin before joining The Nature Conservancy. She will be meeting with North Carolina land conservation organizations, water utilities, local officials, university scientists and others in the state. Her visit to North Carolina is sponsored by Duke University's Water Working Group. |
