Volunteer Restoration Event, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The NC Coastal Federation invites community members and volunteers to help construct an oyster reef at the Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve on Stump Sound in Holly Ridge. Volunteers will be placing 5,000 oyster shell and marl bags in the water and installing plants along the shoreline to build the reef and restore salt marsh habitat. All project supplies and equipment, as well as snacks and refreshments, will be provided. Volunteers should wear clothing that can get wet and dirty and closed-toe shoes are required. This event is suitable for all ages.

Community Clean Water Celebration, 12 p.m. to 2 p.m.

Following volunteer restoration activities, a community party will be held near the Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve. The celebration will include educational exhibits and giveaways, as well as kayak and stand-up paddleboarding demonstrations. Kids activities will include fish printing on free t-shirts, pulling seine nets along the shoreline and other fun games.

Please join the Federation and bring your friends, family and co-workers for a couple of hours or for the whole day to participate in a fun and rewarding activity. Registration is requested.

At the event, volunteers will be able to join the Federation for a special discounted membership price of $15!
